Showreel material chosen for your casting type, partnering with your scene partner, US dialect coaching, filmmaking fundamentals and the audition hothouse.

Led By Matt Levett
Matt Levett is the founder and director of The Actors Workout. After more than two decades on screen and stage in Australia and the United States, he brings a working-actor’s perspective to the studio — grounded in craft, focused on outcomes, and shaped by years on real sets.
A recipient of the AIF Heath Ledger Scholarship in Los Angeles (2015) and a graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Matt’s screen credits include the AACTA-award-winning miniseries The Devil’s Playground, the Logie-award-winning series A Place to Call Home, Wolf Creek, Rescue Special Ops, Dance Academy, The Secret Daughter, Home and Away, Winners and Losers, Bed of Roses, alongside the indie features Sunset People, Drown and Misplaced, and the US feature Payback (Amazon Prime).
He’s also a recipient of the NIDA Gloria Payten Fellowship (2019). Before founding The Actors Workout, Matt taught and directed at many of Sydney’s leading acting schools including NIDA, The Hub Studio, Screenwise, The Actors Centre and ATYP — working with actors at every stage of their careers.
Matt is supported across the year by a wider team of working industry professionals who teach alongside him on the course.

Why Train Here
You’ll train under working screen professionals in an environment that’s collaborative, challenging, and cinematic.

Trusted By Working Actors
The Actors Workout provided us with the best acting showreel in Sydney. The quality of the work, quality of edit and the quality of Matt as a human being made this experience something I would recommend to anyone looking for the same kind of thing.
Matt’s knowledge of the craft coupled with his genuine and caring personality enables him to engage meaningfully with his students. His ability to create a trusting and fun learning environment is exceptional.
Each class I was learning something new, pushing myself out of my comfort zone in a relaxed and supportive environment. Matt has a real passion to watch us connect to the other actor and rely on our natural instincts.
He has created a room that is utterly safe in every way — to explore, to play, to try new things and even fall flat on your face. Throughout the classes I’ve learned more about my acting and, in fact, directing as well.

Do I need experience to join?
No prior experience is required.
Because places are limited, everyone goes through a short audition. Just book a time online and we’ll email your scenes within 24 hours. How big are the cohorts?
Each intake is up to 16 actors.
This allows for personalised direction, deeper rehearsal time, detailed on-camera feedback, and strong creative chemistry within the group.

This is a part-time program, designed to fit around work and life.
Tuesdays & Thursdays
6:30pm – 9:30pm
Four terms from 2 February to 16 December 2027, following the NSW school calendar, with school holidays as your breaks.
What do I graduate with?
By the end of the year, you graduate with:
- Two fully produced cinematic showreel scenes
- Professional-level screen training
- Deep rehearsal experience
- Stronger on-camera confidence

You leave with real work — not rushed content.
How is this different from just booking a showreel shoot?
Most showreels are a few rehearsals and a short filming day.
This course gives you a full year of structured craft development, ongoing performance training, carefully cast scenes tailored to you, professional production standards, and proper time on set.
You don’t just shoot scenes — you build the craft behind them.
Will we meet industry professionals?
Yes. Throughout the year, we host industry sessions with working professionals from across screen.
These sessions give you real insight, perspective, and a stronger understanding of how the industry actually works.
When is the next intake?
The next intake begins on Tuesday 2 February 2027.
Auditions are open now and run every week by appointment. Places are offered on a rolling basis, so earlier auditions have more places available. Successful actors hear back within two weeks.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. You can pay $9,500 upfront (saving $500) or 4 × $2,500, paid before each term. All fees are ex GST.
If you have a specific situation, get in touch and we can talk it through.
Can I talk to someone before I audition?
Of course. Email us at info@theactorsworkout.com.au with any questions about the course, the fees or the showreels, and Matt will get back to you.
