Paige Walker, US Dialect Coach, leading the American Accent Workshop in Sydney at The Actors Workout

The Workshop

Don't let an accent hold you back from your next audition. This one‑day intensive with acclaimed US Dialect Coach Paige Walker is built to help you master the Standard American dialect, the most widely used accent in U.S. screen productions, and hold it with confidence under pressure.

Becoming fluent in any accent takes dedication, time, and repetition. This workshop works through the rhythm, vowel and consonant shifts, and technical foundations of the accent, then puts them straight into script and performance work, so your focus can stay on the performance, not the accent.

Why It Matters

Don't wait until your next audition to start learning an accent. The rhythm and flow of Standard American should already feel natural by the time you're in the room, so nothing pulls your focus away from the performance itself.

Train with Paige Walker

Paige Walker is a voice, dialect and text coach hailing from NYC who has been working in Sydney for the last 26 years. Starting her career in theatre, she has since worked across film, television, theatre and private coaching, helping both actors and commercial speakers build a vocal space that goes beyond simple sound shifts.

Paige believes and teaches that voice work is a collaboration of the vocal, the physical, the mental, and a mastery of imagery, which all combine to create character. Her background in theatre, aerials and dance gives her a unique perspective on the fusion of what makes a voice genuine and honest, helping actors build the muscle memory needed so that, on the day, they get to focus on the work of the character and the storytelling.

In theatre, Paige is currently finishing up with the Australian tour of the Michael Jackson musical MJ, while continuing her work with the Broadway company. On set, she started the year on the Tom Hanks film Greyhound, and is now on set for NCIS Sydney, with still more exploration of ‘seeing’ sound and all the nuances of language.

Testimonials

“I don't think I have ever come across any teacher that can so easily identify and correct the sounds of an Australian to any US regional speech. I still see Paige for every project on Skype and I encourage you and anyone, with any accent or ethnicity, to start work with Paige Walker immediately to obtain a clean authentic North American accent… and I always look forward to our time together too.”

“I cannot recommend Paige Walker highly enough. She was absolutely instrumental in my decision to make the move to Los Angeles and for that I am forever grateful. The skills I learnt under Paige's guidance at a crucial time in my career, coupled with her unwavering encouragement, truly had a huge impact on where I am today. Through private coaching with Paige I was able to hone my skills to a point where I could audition with complete confidence, able to tackle anything, and ultimately led to booking work in the USA. Paige is the best.”
