The Actor's Mindset. One-Day Acting Workshop in Sydney with Michael Sheasby
The Actor’s Mindset
A workshop in Sydney with AFI/AACTA‑nominated screen actor Michael Sheasby (The Luminaries, The Nightingale), Head of Screen at NIDA and founder of The Actor’s Blueprint. Learn to make smarter decisions, show up more fully, and build an authentic, confident, and sustainable career that actually lasts.
The Actor’s Mindset is a practical, candid workshop built for actors who want to do it their way. It came out of a simple realisation, that achieving the external markers of success means nothing if you’re not doing work you’re actually proud of.
Led by Michael Sheasby and drawing on the approach behind his coaching practice, The Actor’s Blueprint, this is a no‑fluff day about how to make smarter decisions, show up more fully, and build a career that actually lasts.
When you look back on your career, there are usually a handful of decisions that led to where you are now. My goal is to help make sure the next handful of decisions move you toward the career you actually want, one that is fulfilling, sustainable, and authentically yours. Michael Sheasby

Train with Michael Sheasby
Michael Sheasby is an AFI/AACTA‑nominated screen actor and the Head of Screen at NIDA. A graduate of NIDA himself, he is best known for his roles as Tex Lewis in Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, Aidan Carroll in Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale (Venice Special Jury Prize, Sundance 2019), and Walter Moody in the BBC’s The Luminaries. He was also named the Casting Guild of Australia’s Rising Star, and is known to Australian audiences for his role in A Place to Call Home.
He continues to work internationally across film and television, with recent roles in Disney’s The Artful Dodger, Tenzing, and NCIS. Alongside his acting, he founded The Actor’s Blueprint to help artists perform more consistently under pressure and build sustainable careers.
Why This Workshop
In 2014, Michael achieved his dream of playing the title role at the Sydney Opera House. Despite the success, it was the worst experience of his career. He realised he had no way to handle the pressure of being an actor and leading from the front. A year later, on set opposite Andrew Garfield and directed by Mel Gibson, the same thing happened.
That led to a complete reset in how he approached performance. With the help of some of the world’s leading coaches, he rebuilt from the ground up. Two years later, he was nominated alongside his heroes for his work in The Nightingale, which screened at Venice and Sundance.
Since then, alongside his acting career, Michael has focused on helping other artists perform more consistently under pressure and build careers that last. This workshop is where he shares that approach.
Who Is This Workshop For?
This workshop is for actors who want to work more consistently under pressure and take real ownership of their craft and career.
It’s best suited to actors who feel their ability comes and goes, who want practical tools rather than another acting method, and who want a healthier, more sustainable relationship with the work.
Limited Spots
This workshop runs on Saturday 25 July 2026 from 10am to 2pm, and spots are limited.
